The Rivals by Vi Keeland
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
4.5 Stars
Enemies to lovers romance.
Standalone
Vi’s talents go beyond unique storytelling, swoony heroes, strong heroines, and page-turning romance, she hooks me from the first scenes EVERY TIME.
Sophia and Weston – ka-BOOM!!
Their chemistry in and out of sexy times was tangible.
They grew up disliking and distrusting one another.
Despite an amazing prom night together twelve years ago (not each other’s original dates), when together, they seem to rub each other the wrong way, which always evolves into rubbing each other the oh-so-right way.
They are both tasked by their family to assess the Countess Hotel’s value in New York City.
The owner, Grace Copeland, passed away, leaving 49% of it to each of their grandfathers who are bitter rivals and were both once in love with Grace.
What starts out snarky and competitive, turns into hate trysts and enemies with benefits deals.
I love what Weston’s considered his undeserving flaw – Sophia explained that it wasn’t.
I don’t want to spoil what that is, but we don’t read much of it in romance books, and I’ve seen it, three different men, in my life, including my father.
I was lucky enough to read an ARC, and then, of course, I HAD to listen to the audiobook.
Vi is an automatic one-click author for me.
Whether it’s her solo books or the ones she co-wrote with Penelope Ward, she never disappoints.
