My Review of The Girl He Used To Know by Tracey Garvis Graves

by Tracey Garvis Graves
Format: Paperback
Genres: 2nd Chance Romance, Romance
Source: ARC

Love is patient. Love is kind.
So is Jonathan.

Tracey knows how crazy I am about Ian from Heart-Shaped Hack.
(Thankfully, no restraining orders have been filed)
He’s been my top book husband since 2015.

Well, let me tell you, Jonathan in The Girl He Used to Know gives Ian a run for his money.
I LOVED the way he loved Annika with no judgment or tried to change her.
I was a little disappointed at one of his internal thoughts so he won’t be de-throning Ian.

The story unfolds from past to present POV’s from both Jonathan and Annika.
It starts off 10 years after college when they run into each other and then seamlessly alternates between past and present

Annika
I loved her so much and was so proud of every new experience she was brave enough to try or conquer.
She was kind, had a pure soul, empathetic to the extreme, and was selfless.
She is one of my top favorite heroines of all time.
I laughed at her honesty and straightforwardness.

“Are you going to kiss me?”
He laughed. “I was planning on it, yes.”
“Okay. I’m ready.”

I also loved Annika’s friend, Janice.
She’s a friend anyone would be lucky to have – especially someone who needed as much understanding, patience, and kind-heartedness as Annika.
She was the perfect mix of knowing when to challenge Annika, when to give her a nudge out of her comfort zone, and when to accept that she was at her limit or needed help.

Most of what I’d like to discuss would be spoilers so I think you’ll enjoy the suspense of going in blind.

I can promise that when you finish the story, not only will you audibly sigh, but the characters will be ones that stay with you for years.

Thank you, Tracey for your storytelling goodness and St. Martin’s Press for sending me an advanced reader’s edition.
It now occupies a prime spot on my bookshelf. 😘
