When August Ends by Penelope Ward
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
This romance is a slooooow burn.
As with any book Penelope writes, I loved the characters, the story, and the unexpected twists.
Twenty-year-old Heather was smart, feisty, straightforward and somewhat awkward, but in an endearing way.
She develops a crush on her summer-long tenant who is staying in the boathouse on her family’s property.
Noah is 37, a little broody has the willpower of steel and sexy as all get out.
After making it crystal clear that she was interested in his sheets and not in changing them.
After Noah explained that they couldn’t be more than friends, their attraction simmered into a friendship.
I loved getting to know the characters as the story unfolded.
I can’t tell you the rest because it would give away spoilers but you will be surprised and caught off guard more than once.
I’ll leave you with a quote from the book that after my many years on this earth can tell you is the absolute truth.
“Life is made up of little moments that don’t seem that important at the time, but in retrospect, they’re what get you to where you are.”
