My “Quickie” Interview today is with Author, J.D. Hawkins.
J.D. is my favorite male author.
He’s always been a great supporter of this page and his FB posts are hilarious.
He writes sexy contemporary romance with modern-classic alpha males and strong, independent women.
Obviously, he writes the best authentic male POVs, but the female POV is spot on, as well.
His alphas are cleverly witty, dirty talking, sometimes arrogant and confident, but never complete assholes.
Jax, in Insatiable and Owen, from Unprofessional, are two of my favorite book boyfriends. 😍
Actually, I’ve loved them all and I can’t wait to read his latest release, Love & Ink, a friends to lovers story which released yesterday, 2/21.

J.D. currently lives in L.A. with his wife and adorable, but very introspective looking cat, Sea Monkey.
He loves to travel and has lived in many places, including New York City, India, and Thailand.
When he isn’t writing, he enjoys surfing, training in Mixed Martial Arts, reading and taking naps.
He’s always loved making up stories, especially ones inspired by real life.
He left the corporate world to write books and enjoys his anonymity. (explains why I have no photos of him in the video)
He is LITERALLY an international man of mystery. 😎
There are probably 69 other reasons I love his writing, but we’ll get to his answers to my Quickie interview questions.
Be sure to enter the giveaway.

1. Where is the strangest place you’ve ever gotten a great story idea?
✧ Hmmm… this is going to be a boring answer. I usually get my ideas when I sit with my editors and brainstorm, usually at a coffee shop. It’s more of a cold, calculated process than a spontaneous, artistic enlightened moment. We try to think about subjects that we believe the audience would love to read about and that I’d be interested in researching and writing about.
2. What is the last book you’ve loved?
✧ Again, not the most interesting answer. It wasn’t romance. It’s a book called The Book of Joy, by The Dalai Lama and Desmond Tutu. Two spiritual leaders talking to each other about living with joy through adversity. It’s a very enlightening book about how to humor and compassion can transform the way you experience the world.
3. What is your favorite TV or Netflix series?
✧ Definitely The Wire. I’ve watched the whole 5 seasons (I think) twice. I recently watched and LOVED the Swedish/Danish series The Bridge.
4. Bucket list vacation spot?
✧ I’ve already been to most places on my bucket list. Places on the list I haven’t been to yet are New Zealand, Scandinavia, Argentina, Sri Lanka, Cambodia, and Vietnam.
5. Who is your current celebrity crush?
(I know you love Kate Upton & Jennifer Lawerence)
✧ Yes, definitely those two. Also, Mila Kunis, Rihanna, Rashida Jones are some of my favorites.
6. What is your all-time favorite song?
✧ There are so many I can’t name one that’s my absolute favorite.
Right now, I’d go with Moonage Daydream by Bowie. I’m an alligator, I’m a mama-papa coming for you. I’m the space invader, I’ll be a rock ‘n’ rollin’ bitch for you. Keep your mouth shut, you’re squawking like a pink monkey bird. And I’m busting up my brains for the words. I can keep going but I should probably stop.
7. What’s your favorite gift ever received from a fan?
✧ Gifts from ‘fans’ make me uncomfortable. The whole ‘fans’ thing makes me uncomfortable. That’s why I don’t have a PO Box (and nobody knows my address). I have received a few cool gifts (they were sent to my PA, Candi Kane, and she sent them to me) but I won’t name names because I don’t wanna offend anyone else’s gifts.
8. Who is your unicorn author?
✧ What’s a unicorn author? No, but seriously, I don’t have a favorite author. Well… maybe Dostoyevsky.
9. Do you wear cologne? If yes, what is your favorite brand?
✧ I don’t, not since the early 90’s. I don’t have anything against it but I didn’t even know cologne is still a thing until recently. Oh, and the only men I know who wear cologne are serious douchebags. Maybe I should start wearing cologne but I need recommendations.
10. What’s your favorite name out of all your characters?
✧ Owen, from Unprofessional.

★ (The video has music so turn down the volume if you’re in a quiet place) ★
I had to go through a dozen bands/songs before FB would accept the video.
I tried The Smiths, Depeche Mode, Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, etc.
They kept rejecting the music because it violated copyrights.
This is why the video ended up with an orchestra version of How Soon is Now? by The Smiths
I hope it doesn’t sound like you’re in aisle 7 of a grocery store. 😳😉
